Firewood delivery
Commences Early
Enviro Systems Franchisees commenced firewood deliveries two
years ahead of project schedule. Franchisees who chose to purchase
additional franchisee licences this year commenced firewood; delivery
during the winter of 2002 with great success. This was a very steep
learning curve for all of the staff and those franchisees involved.
Although our timing was late, those franchisees that took an active role
were very surprised at the positive response from all sections of the
market.
Sausage Sizzle Success
Earlier this month, franchisees met at the South Australia
bagging and distribution center at Smithfield in Adelaide’s northern
districts. All enjoyed a barbeque and the chance to look over the product
being delivered to customers and discuss many issues with both Enviro
Systems staff and other franchisees. This proved to be a great. The
weather was very cold and while it did not dampen spirits on the day I am
sure it did not help. Those franchisees that attended took the opportunity
to talk Mr. Don Grant, who supervises our Smithfield depot, and were able
to gain first hand feedback about the market place in Adelaide.
The Environment comes
first
As we spoke to more retail
outlets it became clear that the environment is a major issue to most
consumers and the opportunity Enviro Systems presents to reduce greenhouse
gases while heating their home is far more important that we realized.
Remember Enviro Systems grow a tree for every one we harvest
! As a result of this attitude and the
supply problems experienced by other retailers, our first year in the
market place was far more successful than anticipated. Clearly we had
planned to use this time to test our distribution and delivery plans and
this has been an invaluable learning experience, which will be put to good
use in future years.
Enviro Systems plays a major role in
Firewood Conference in Adelaide

The Conservation Council of SA recently held a conference
at South Australia’s Waite Institute designed to discuss and help identify
the core problems with firewood use and canvass options to address
biodiversity, health and consumer issues.
Enviro Systems were pleased to attend and offer our
company’s support to the objectives outlined in the South Australian
Action Plan for Firewood. Many significant outcomes were reached
including supporting the licensing of firewood
merchants to:
- Disclose to customers the source of the wood
- Sell only seasoned wood and only by weight
- Promote correct wood burning
practices
Most importantly consumers will be encouraged to use
firewood which is purpose grown from sustainably managed forests –
plantation firewood. It is agreed that farm forestry plantations
potentially offer a sustainable future for firewood supplies and have
additional environmental benefits in terms of water quality and soil
protection Enviro Systems believe that these changes will have an enormous
impact on firewood availability nationally and will considerably increase
demand for our product. Enviro Systems Renewable Resources remains
committed to the sustainable production of plantation timber for firewood.
A copy of the conference outcomes will be available on the Enviro Systems
website shortly.
$$$ Returns higher than
Projected
Franchisees that delivered their own wood this
year received around $7.70 per bag or $423.50 per tonne compared to
estimates of $400.00 per tonne retail. This is very encouraging in light
of the fact that the estimates were projected for the winter of
2004.
How to increase your $$$$
Return
Those franchisees who do not wish to deliver wood
themselves can employ others to do the work for them through agents but it
is essential to help build a client base to deliver to.
“Any person you know who uses
firewood should use your wood.”
To help you supply these friends and acquaintances Enviro
Systems can assist in arranging for delivery of the firewood. All that is
required is for you to approach these people and get them involved as your
customers. This simple act will increase your income and satisfy your
friend’s needs for firewood through your business, for at least the next
ten years.

Mr John F Chambers
Managing Directors
Enviro Systems Renewable Resources Ltd
247 Glen Osmond Road
Frewville 5063
Dear John
Enclosed are the 6 pictures I have of the
Enviro Systems’ plantation property ‘Warolim’, that I took on my visit
there during the Adelaide Cup long weekend in May 2002. I was
impressed by the neatness of the site and the general health of the blue
gums in the plantation. Please accept these pictures as a
gift.
I was also pleased to meet you at the
company barbeque on Sunday 11th August 2002, to meet other
franchisees, and to hear you speak. Thank you for the invitation to
attend and I hope the coming years will be successful to all after a
difficult start.
Yours sincerely,
CHRISTOPHER STEELE
We look forward to hearing feedback from franchisee and
also from your customers. Each newsletter we will try and publish a letter
received in our letters of month section. You can send your letters to our
new address see page one or use the feedback form on the

Enviro
Deliver into Retail outlets
This winter it was planned to move only into the retail
market through Franchisees Home Delivery but it very quickly became
obvious that the current market was poorly supplied and the retail outlets
that sold firewood were very frustrated by poor quality supply and
service. Particularly with regard to insuring delivery of adequate
stock in a timely manner.
As we identified more and more retail outlets frustrated
with their current service it was simply a matter of approaching them and
offering to help. Enviro Systems now have over 50 retail outlets in the
Adelaide metropolitan area, with many more already taking the opportunity
to meet with us and plan their firewood needs for next winter.
Retails outlets where Enviro Systems Firewood
is available will soon be listed on the website
New
